Three things you must know
As you move through the PR world you navigate many a relationship across sectors, verticals , designations and geographies. There are few that stick. These are the ones that leave an impression in your life and maybe create more of the same tribe that make the industry a better place. From all the amazing associations we have had in our journey in the PR industry, we share with you three nuggets that essentially form the basis of a rewarding and fulfilling work relationship that makes you want to challenge the status quo and do more. They are also all interconnected. One feeds into the other to create a circle of trust.
Communication: Keep the lines of communication open. While there is a chain of command that needs to be respected you must encourage all team members to ask questions so that they can understand your vision and nuances of your business better.
Respect: Questions lead to ideas which lead to innovation. This chain can only be nurtured if you respect the other person’s opinion. Being encouraging and inclusive will lead to a thriving positive work culture where team members are not afraid to express themselves.
Debate: Room for healthy disagreement without making it personal is a must. This is one of the key reasons that make teams stronger. Let your teams know you will not take the support of your designation to bully someone in a debate to get your way. Positive debates foster respect and encourage more open communication.
